Pre- Shoot Checklist
Handy tips to get your home photoshoot-ready.
-
General Cleaning
Clean all surfaces, including countertops, shelves, and light fixtures. Fresh, spotless spaces are key to great photos.Floors
Vacuum carpets, sweep hard floors, and mop where needed. A clean floor helps rooms look larger and brighter.Windows & Mirrors
Clean windows (inside and out) and mirrors to ensure they’re streak-free. Natural light is one of the best ways to enhance your space
-
Say Goodbye to Clutter
Clear countertops, nightstands, and dining tables of anything that doesn’t need to be there. Remove personal items (think family photos, knick-knacks, pet toys, private information) that you don’t want online.Keep It Simple
Neatly arrange any necessary items (like toiletries in bathrooms or spices in the kitchen). A clutter-free space looks larger and more inviting.
-
Turn on ALL the Lights
Switch on all ceiling lights, lamps, and under-cabinet lights. More light = brighter, happier photos.Natural Light is Your Friend
Open all curtains and blinds to let in natural light! If it’s a sunny day, make sure to clear any curtains that block that golden sunshine.Check Light Bulbs
If any lights are out, replace them! It’s an easy fix that can make a world of difference.
-
Lawn Love
Mow the lawn, trim the bushes, and remove any weeds. A neat yard always looks more inviting.Tidy Up the Driveway & Porch
Sweep the driveway, paths, and front porch. Wipe down the front door, and maybe even give the doormat a shake.Outdoor Decorations
A vase of flowers or a potted plant by the door adds a nice touch. But keep it simple – the house should steal the show, not the décor.
-
Living Room
Fluff the pillows, straighten the throw blankets, and arrange furniture to make the space feel open.Kitchen
Clear off countertops — no dirty dishes or soap bottles! Arrange a few nice items like a fruit bowl, some cookbooks, or a pretty plant. Let the kitchen shine!Bathroom
Clear countertops of personal toiletries (soap, toothbrushes, shampoo in shower, etc). Fresh towels on the racks, and a quick wipe of the mirror goes a long way. Close toilet lids, and make sure bathroom garbage cans are out of sight (they don’t photograph well!).Bedroom
Make the bed with clean bedding. Add a little decor (like a throw or a couple of pillows) to give the room that perfect cozy vibe.
-
Show Off the Best Features
Do you have a cozy fireplace, a chic home office, or a gorgeous custom-built bookshelf? Make sure it’s photo-ready — clean, organized, and lit up!Organized Closets = Bonus Points
If your closet is walk-in worthy, tidy it up! We want to show off your space, so make sure it looks neat and spacious.
-
Pets on Pause
If possible, have pets stay outside or in a room that won’t be photographed. We love them, but the focus should be on the home, not Fido’s bed or food bowl! Potential buyers may be weary of smells and damage if the home is too pet-friendly.
